TNT

Posting compliments of Myles Richards

Everyone finds something to like about direct.tv. Most of the best new programming is found on the TNT channel. Shows like “Leverage,” “The Closer,” “Memphis Beat,” and “HawthoRNe” have earned their large audiences and excellent reviews. The writing includes lots of great characterization and snappy dialogue. The actors portray their characters well, as strong people who are appealing in spite of their flaws. Viewers find it easy to empathize with them because their weaknesses don’t make them too dark and edgy. Everything suggests that their upcoming series, “Rizzoli and Isles,” will have many of these same qualities.

The programming director at T.N.T. has really earned the network its tagline, “We know drama.” This is just as true of their syndicated programs, like “Bones” and “Law & Order” in the evenings, “Angel,” “Charmed,” and “Supernatural” in the mornings, and “Las Vegas” and “Cold Case” in the afternoons. They have also picked up the broadcast rights to some of the most popular sporting events available on television, like plenty of NASCAR races and the N.B.A. Finals. And they consistently choose movies to show that are actually good, not just those that get big hype or high budgets. Best of all, T.N.T. is available just about everywhere on satellite television.
