Father’s Day Party

Sunday was Father’s Day, and everyone in the family packed up and went to our parent’s house to celebrate and have a nice picnic. Aunts, uncles, cousins, everyone within a 200 mile driving distance was there. It was a regular family reunion! Our parents went a little bit overboard and rented a big moon bounce, pony rides and live entertainers (clowns and jugglers) for the younger children to keep them happy. OK, they went WAY overboard!  But everyone had a great time, the entertainment was good, the food was great, and it was wonderful seeing the whole family and their kids and catch up on what everyone is doing.

Look out for ways to save money

Guest post by Linda Bradshaw

Over the years I have become quite the self-made expert on frugality. Being a single mother that had to work outside the home in order to make ends meet, I was always on the “look-out” for ways to save money. Preferably in ways that did not involve excessive amounts of time and energy. After all, I was what was called a “working mother.”

In addition to that, I took college courses in pursuit of a degree in business administration, in hopes of the college diploma being a way to increase my value to employers – both present and future. And to top it off, both of my kids attended college when they graduated from high school. So, when people complain to me about how tight money is and how they are always strapped for cash, it does not take a lot of time or effort for me to be able to offer up some suggestions on how they can spend less money and still have a decent life.

One of the most common things that people do that they can change is their habit of eating out. Yes, it is convenient to eat out. Especially if you work full-time and have kids. Life is really busy. But eating out also eats away at your disposable income.

School Buses

It’s that time of the year that we really need to pay attention to the fact that kids are heading back to school and that the roads will be packed with those big, loud, smelly, yellow school buses that are out in force early in the morning and again in the late afternoon.

Proceed with caution please for all the bus riders and the walkers as well.
