Keeping up with the housekeepers
Guest post written by Carrie Northman
Hiring a house cleaning service was something that we did for years and I grew so used to the service that when I retired, I didn’t bother to cancel it.
I do still pick up clothes, wash dishes and other various household chores. But some of the bigger tasks I leave to the service, like ironing and dusting. A lot of the times I’ll plan my errands around the time each week a housecleaner is supposed to come so I’ll stay out of her way and she won’t have to worry about being quiet for my sake. However, it doesn’t always work out that way and although the lady who currently comes to our cleaning doesn’t mind me being there, there have been a few times where she has asked me a question about my household preferences that I haven’t heard because of my hearing loss.
I know that has to be frustrating for her and it definitely is for me, so I’m getting a free hearing test this week to see if I need to do anything about my problem.
