While walking down the aisle with the tubs, there were two young men walking toward me, looking puzzled or out of place. As they approached within speaking distance, one of them spoke to me, in a very heavy accent. I think it was Russian or maybe Czech. He asked, “Where is there bread in this store?”

I pointed to the end of the aisle and told them the bread is usually on the shelves on the end. He said, “No – there is no bread there.” So I guess they were sold out.

Then he asked where else could they buy bread nearby? I told him that the gas station and convenience store across the street should have bread. He was astonished. “They sell BREAD at GAS STATIONS here?”

In high school, I was a member of the 4-H club for 3 years. We learned about gardening and care of livestock. One thing that I remember learning was the time we planted roses. We learned about preparing the rose bed and how to take care of the rose bushes.

Now I have put that training to good use. My roses are still blooming and they are beautiful.

I decided to buy some Planters and try to extend the vegetable growing season. By putting the vegetables into containers, I can move them inside the garage at night to protect the plants from frost, then move them back outside in the morning to take advantage of the sun.

Last year I tried this using one Planter and it worked very well. I had two different crop cycles of tomatoes. By planting some of the tomatoes in the containers, I was enjoying fresh, vine ripened tomatoes well into October.

I have also had great success with my Window Box Planters and am learning about raising geraniums. I especially love the bright orange red geraniums and this is my second year planting and nurturing these flowers.

But my first thought when I saw this photo was that some giant PacMan characters were on the rampage, devouring people!

But then I went to New York City for our senior class trip and it was quite an eye opener. Nothing I had read prepared me for the reality of the city, and I soon realized that living in NYC was not something that I wanted to do.

Now that I work in a professional office and have to wear nice clothes, I can appreciate a well designed women’s suit and nice shoes.I believe in buying the highest quality clothing that I can afford. It has to be made well and it has to fit well.

I also like well made casual clothes. My favorite outfit for the weekend will always be a nice pair of jeans and a sweater, but I will sometimes wear khaki pants and an oxford. In my opinion, sweat pants and tee shirts are fine around the house for doing chores or working out, but a woman of style and good taste will not wear those things out of the house and be seen in public.

The average load of laundry in a typical American home is worth between $400 – $600. But he was checking the replacement cost for his iPhone and has found that a new one will cost $900 – $1,000. Wow! That was a VERY expensive load of laundry!

I’m trying to talk her into booking a Myrtle Beach hotel with me and getting away at the end of September for a long weekend. I would love to spend four days in the sun and sand and on the golf greens with my sister. That would be heaven.

Finally, after almost an hour of persuading and whining, she agreed to look at some of the Myrtle Beach best hotels and consider going away for 4 days. I hope she follows through on her promise and calls me back tonight to finish making plans.
