Mutt Strutt
Friday, August 27th, 2010A friend of mine who works in Nashville is working as a volunteer at this Mutt Strutt. She was telling me about the great success they have had in previous years raising a lot of money and having a lot of fun with people and their pets. It is all for charity and is a different kind of fund raising event. I wonder if it would work in this area?
Using Medical Pet Websites
Thursday, July 1st, 2010Guest post written by my buddy Brian Josephson
Have you ever been frightened when your pet has fallen ill? Perhaps you do not have pet insurance and cannot afford to run to the veterinarian whenever your pet is sick. Sadly, this is the truth for many pet owners. Just like these pet owners, I cannot afford to run my pet to the veterinarian all the time either. So, my solution has been to use medical pet websites with my wildblue satellite internet connection.
Using medical pet websites has proven to save me thousands of dollars. I cannot emphasize how helpful websites like www.petmd.com are. One time, my kitten was vomiting everywhere in my home. Not a pretty scene, I know. I was scared that my kitten was about to die, and I could not afford to take her to the veterinarian. Using a medical pet website, I was able to look up her exact symptoms. It turns out she just had consumed too much of her pet food and had a stomach ache! She was nowhere near dying, but I was still relieved. The website also suggested ways that I could take care of the kitten, to ensure that she would get better.
I am so grateful for medical pet websites. They have saved me and other pet owners thousands of dollars in the long run. More importantly, the lives of our pets have been saved!

Puppy mills
Monday, May 17th, 2010I’ve been watching a television program on the Animal Planet channel about how horrible puppy mills are. Apparently a pet store called Petland has been selling a lot of sick puppies to consumers. This television show documents an investigation into the problem. It’s very sad to see how many dogs are being abused, and I have to say that I’m really surprised that Petland is still in business!
An oddity in nature
Monday, March 1st, 2010My good friend Judy knows how much I love animals. She emailed me a link to a fantastic video about a herd of white deer. I found it so interesting, I’d like to share it with you. I hope you find it as interesting as I do!
Got a new kitten
Saturday, January 31st, 2009My neighbor gave me a kitten today, from the litter her cat had a few weeks ago. It is cute as a button! She gave me pick of the litter. It is a little orange tiger. I’m sure he will be a lot of fun to watch grow up. My neighbor gave me a starter kit of a litter box, litter box liners, kitty litter, pooper scooper, food & water dish and food enough to last me a few weeks. Wasn’t that nice of her? So now I have to think about whether or not to neuter and declaw him a little bit later in life. I’ve heard so many pros and cons to de-clawing, this will be a tough decision. I guess I’ll wait a bit and see if I can train him to claw at a scratching post or not.
Pets are family members
Monday, January 12th, 2009Our keeshond Dutch is getting older now, and I can see his muzzle graying. He slows down quicker when we go for a long walk together, or when we play fetch. Boy does that dog love to play fetch! He doesn’t care if it’s a stick or a ball or a frisbee, he loves to play fetch! And he loves children, too. He will let them pet him, and tug on his fur and he’ll just lie there and take it. If it gets too bad he’ll get up and go hide under a bed somewhere. He’s never bit a soul in his life. But he’s a magnificent “watch dog” he will bark and growl at strangers until I tell him it’s ok! And the strangers ARE afraid of him because he looks so much like a wolf! They don’t know how gentle he really is, and that’s OK with me!
Lately I’ve been spending some time reading about health issues realted to his aging process. I want to make sure to keep him in the best possible health and make sure he lives a good long time! I’ve found a site called Petwave that has a lot of informative articles about Pet Health that I plan to spend a lot more time reading!
Our keeshond Dutch
Monday, January 12th, 2009I love our keeshond Dutch. He’s been with us since he was a two month old puppy. We bought him from a breeder that showed keeshonden in another state and had to drive for four hours one way to go get him! We had bought a crate with us to make sure he stayed safe for the drive home. Well, we fell in love with him immediately, and he with us. He has been a good, faithful gentle dog. He is a well trained dog, we trained him really early. I love to see him do his little tricks like catching a frisbee and rolling over.
