Tameka Darrell is the author of this guest post.

If you live in a community that is family friendly and full of young and vibrant children you may be among a community of individuals that is committed to not only seeking justice for those that are victims of crime but that are incredibly dedicated to the prevention of crime. I myself being a parent of three young and lively children have made it a personal goal of mine to make sure that my home and my neighborhood is safe for my children to run around in and play in without being threatened by those predators that can make a neighborhood or home seem unsafe. My children have the right to be out and about and play with their peers in the place where they were born and I will make it so that they can have a safe place to play. Of course it is of utmost importance for us adults in the neighborhood to make this possible because an environment like this will not just materialize by itself. One of the most important ways to protect the home is with a ADT home alarm system that can be set when we are away from the home and while we are sleeping. I myself and every one of my neighbors has installed a home security alarm system as a first step it combating neighborhood crime.

I really love how the Internet can give you a glance into other countries all over the world. Google has a few great translating sites that come in handy, but it can be time consuming and frustrating at times, so I try and stick to countries that I can understand the language better. Australia has always fascinating to me, I’d love to be able to go there at some point in my life time.

Today I had a bit of time to cruise the “net” and found an insurance company in Australia that I took the time to read a bit about. They offer affordable life insurance for their customers, along with accident and illness insurance, income protection insurance as well as cheap funeral insurance which is something that I wasn’t even aware of it’s existence, but it makes sense, anything to make life (and death) easier to deal with, right!

When the time comes that I get to take a trip to the “Land Down Under” you can be sure that the Internet will come into play for the majority of my needs in order to make it the best trip ever!

Last night I was shopping at Sears to buy some new bedding. Well, mother nature called so I went to the store’s ladies room. When I entered the room I was really surprised to see a middle-aged lady holding a young boy (maybe about three years old) over the sink with his pants down. She was telling him to pee in the sink!

She was just as surprised to see me enter the room, as I was to see her. She said to me “the toilets are disgusting” and wrinkled up her nose. I looked into the stalls and saw that the previous people had not flushed the toilets. Yes, that is disgusting, but all one needed to do was to flush them! So I entered one of the stalls and flushed the toilet and took care of my business. I heard the lady rinse out the sink she was using and leave the room.

When I went to wash my hands, I was sure to use the sink that had not been peed in! And I noticed that there were wet spots around the other sink. I had to wonder if they were water spots, or urine spots. Regardless, I was grossed out!

Guest post by Linda Bradshaw

When my hubby was injured in my car accident in 2007, I tried to get my mortage company for our house in New England that we were trying to sell to grant me a hardship forebearance. Since he wasn’t able to work due to my injuries, I was hopeful to get some empathy from the company. Boy, was I wrong!

Long story short, the mortgage company has dropped the ball and tossed me around from department to department, where I have been met with gross incompetence at every turn.

After over two years, even though we FINALLY did a deed-in-lieu with the company last November, and the deed to the house was transferred into their name in December the company is continuing to send me notices that I owe them the money and the company is still sending notices to the credit agencies that the mortgage is overdue. This is resulting in credit card companies closing my credit cards or lowering my credit limits.

Every time I call Bank of America I am shuttled around from department to department, and told the matter will be escalated and someone will call me back within the next week. That never happens. I have called them about once every two weeks, and nothing is resolved. I have sent them letters, and I get replies that someone will contact me within 20 days, and that never happens either! I got collection calls several times a day for years on end until I finally blocked their telephone number!

As of today, I have been on the phone with Bank of America for the past four hours, being shuttled around from department to department, trying to find some help. I’m on hold at the moment, waiting for a supervisor to talk to me. The lady I just spoke with said that my account was in the process of being assigned to someone in the home retention department!

I have contacted my state senator Mark Warner’s office, asking for help a couple of weeks ago. Haven’t heard back from them yet.

Anyone know a good lawyer that would like to sue this company on my behalf to get this resolved and maybe some punitive damages for emotional distress it is causing? I had hired a lawyer that I was told is an agressive lawyer that loves to sue people, but for some reason he just doesn’t seem to be in the mood to take this on! If you know of a class-action suit going on for people in situations like this, or know a good lawyer that could/would help me, please post comment to this blog and I’ll get the information!

Can you feel my pain?

Apparently a pet store called Petland has been selling a lot of sick puppies to consumers. This television show documents an investigation into the problem.

Last night Lynn and I were chatting on the phone. She told me that she was working the night before at her store and she found about $50 lying on the floor. She turned it into the office, thinking that someone would claim it. She had in the back of her mind if no one claimed it, then the money would be turned over to her after a few weeks. The next day she asked the store manager what would happen to the money if no one claimed it. He told her that if no one claimed it, then it would be put in the cash registers and logged as “found money” and the money would get deposited to the store’s account. He said that was the store policy!

With that in mind, Lynn was telling me that if she knew that, she probably would have just kept the money to herself and waited to see if anyone asked her if it had been found. What do you think you would do in that situation yourself, turn it in, or keep it? I’m not sure what I’d do myself! Who knows if maybe the store manager just kept the money for himself? Seriously, what would YOU do?

It is encouraging to know that real estate sales are on the rise. The majority of real estate agents are walking around once again with a smile and a bounce in their step because of this increase in sales. A good amount of these sales are due to the real estate stimulus efforts by our Federal Government. One of their better judgment calls as of late.

Giving first time home buyers a nice tax credit has made a major impact on so many people and has people who would have never even thought about buying a house looking around to see what they can find. And now they have extended this tax credit, once again, and it’s including other options as well. Folks that have lived five years consecutively in the past eight years can receive up to $6,500 from Uncle Sam.

I’ve found a good overview of the extension at Coldwell Banker’s web site, they have an interesting short video that I’ve placed below for your information. This can mean some serious money so it’s good to try and get the word out, if you know what I mean. Once again I have to thank YouTube.com for allowing us to view videos such as this one.

You would think that the airlines would get their act together when it comes to making sure that your Luggage arrives at the same destination that you do and both at the same time would be nice. My sister just got back from a trip that was supposed to be like a second honeymoon but turned out to be one big mess. The whole mess starting with the airlines losing both her and her husband’s brand new Tumi Luggage, so you know that put a damper on the whole trip.

They both had to go out and purchase all new clothes and personal hygiene products that were packed in their bags that they put such faith in the airlines to keep track of and take care of. That was an expense that they were not prepared for, so they had to cut back on quite a few activities that they had planned on participating in on this particular trip.

And the brand new Tumi Luggage that they were utilizing were special gifts to them from his mother just two Christmas holiday seasons ago. It is most unfortunate that his mother passed shortly after this occasion so this luggage has a lot of emotion and love attached to it. The good news is that the luggage has been found but there are items missing and the bags now look pretty grubby, which has my sister really bent out of shape.
