That was fun

My sister sent me a link to learn how to do Hands-Only CPR that had an interactive segment that allowed me to choose a body to practice CPR on. It is a page sponsored by the American Heart Association, and I think it is really great that they are promoting this method. I think that a lot of lives could be saved with this promotion!

Heat wave

Sunday, July 24th, 2011

I’m worried about my aunt with this heat wave that we are entering into this week. She is one who always refuses to run her air conditioning; she says it makes her sick. There is no scientific evidence that air conditioning makes people sick, but she insists that it does.

Last summer she almost succumbed to the heat and we had to take her to the hospital, where she stayed for three weeks, recovering. I wish that she was not such a stubborn woman, I’m afraid that one day we are going to drop by her house and find her dead on the floor because she will have died from the heat.

The information highway

Sunday, June 26th, 2011

The other night I got a phone call from a friend.  She had recently discussed having breast augmentation surgery with her husband.  She wanted to know if there was a website that she could visit to get more information on the subject.  I suggested a great health directory that I came across while doing some research of my own.  This site not only has medical information but also was a great fitness directory as well as a general health and wellness directory too.

There is a vast amount of information on everything from aging, to reproductive health, to women’s health and a lot more.  I told her that it should answer the questions she may have forgotten to ask her doctor.  You know how that is, you get into the doctor’s office and you have a slew of questions you thought about before the visit, but you end up forgetting half of them and then remember after you have left. They even have information on the health and well being of your pets!!!!

Evening in

I was supposed to meet Jim for dinner at Ruby Tuesday last night but my allergies were acting up so horribly that I just had to beg for a rain check.  Naturally Jim was very disappointed because it was his birthday and I was supposed to foot the bill!  Too bad for Jim!

Instead I stayed home and ate one of my favorite Lean Cuisine Swedish meatball dinners and watched the Criminal Minds marathon on the new ION station that I got when I ordered my new service from www.LocalTV-Satellite.com.

After watching four episodes in a row, I finally put the cat out and activated the home security pryor alarm and turned in for the night.  I’ve been really glad to have the security system installed after my neighbor Georgia’s townhouse was broken into last week!  I think that having the alarm has helped me to sleep better at night.

New glasses again

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

My favorite style of prescription glasses is the rimless style. I would really love to not have to wear glasses at all, but that simply is not an option. And to be perfectly honest, contact lenses scare me half to death! I can’t even put eye drops in my eyes by myself; I can’t imagine putting contact lenses in my eyes, and then trying to peel them out again! My eyes just water thinking about it!

Much to my dismay, the expense of the glasses that I need to wear have skyrocketed in price.  To the point where I simply did not buy new glasses the last time that I went to the eye doctor and got a new prescription.  In this day and age, who can afford $300 for a pair of new glasses?  I really would love to use the Zenni Optical glasses because they are so reasonably priced, and the styles are great!  And their new website design is terrific!

Sadly they don’t offer the service that I need; putting prism in my glasses.  So I’m just going to have to go on using my old glasses for a few more months until I can scrape up the money to buy glasses with prism in them.
