It seems to be everywhere!
Monday, May 17th, 2010My mom has been doing a lot of reading lately about Mesothelioma and Mesothelioma Cancer as part of her continuing education requirements for her job. She initially got interested in the subject around 1996 when her boss put her in charge of checking their office building for asbestos, as part of an OSHA inspection preparation.
I always thought that asbestos was essentially limited to insulation and brake pad linings, but listening to my mom talk about it I’ve learned that it is roof shingles, and tile flooring as well. I can recall a time when I was driving home from work one day and saw a house that was being demolished, but it was in a very large clear plastic tent as part of the demolation process. No one had to tell me; I just figured it was part of an asbestos removal project. That’s rather a scary thought to me, that there is so much asbestos out in the world that entire houses have to be tented in order to be demolished!
