Playtime with Tabitha

Saturday, June 11th, 2011

Yesterday I took my niece, Tabitha, to the playground at our local park. I love to have Tabitha visit, but she sometimes gets a little bit excited and has occasionally broken things in my house, so I choose to take her to the playground instead for our visits.

As I watched her play on the slide, climbing up the 10 or so stairs to slide down again some 40 or 50 times and then move on to the swings for a bit and then to the merry-go-round, I noticed that the mulch they had on the ground was made of rubber.  I had never seen this before and found it very interesting and different.

After our playground romp, we went to the local ice cream shop for a sundae.  She decided that she wanted a banana split instead of a sundae. She ordered a hot fudge sundae and I  had my peanut butter sundae (my personal favorite).  Of course, being only 7 years old, Tabitha got fudge all over her clothes and face.  Her mother will have an absolute fit!!!  But, that is what being a kid is all about, isn’t it?  You should be able to get messy when you eat ice cream.

After Tabitha’s visit, dropped her off at her house (after a little clean up in the bathroom at the ice cream shop) and went home and did a little research.  I found out that there is a company called Rubberecycle Playsafer that recycles old used tires and sells this rubber mulch for use on playgrounds and in horse arenas.  It makes a softer place to land if a horse or child falls, it is good for the environment and gives a person or a horse more sure footing.  I think it is a wonderful idea for recycling of tires and lasts much longer than traditional mulch.

I was supposed to meet Jim for dinner at Ruby Tuesday last night but my allergies were acting up so horribly that I just had to beg for a rain check.  Naturally Jim was very disappointed because it was his birthday and I was supposed to foot the bill!  Too bad for Jim!

Instead I stayed home and ate one of my favorite Lean Cuisine Swedish meatball dinners and watched the Criminal Minds marathon on the new ION station that I got when I ordered my new service from www.LocalTV-Satellite.com.

After watching four episodes in a row, I finally put the cat out and activated the home security pryor alarm and turned in for the night.  I’ve been really glad to have the security system installed after my neighbor Georgia’s townhouse was broken into last week!  I think that having the alarm has helped me to sleep better at night.

The bucket

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

Last night I turned on the television and found that the channel it was already on was showing the movie “The Bucket List.” Well, that was a movie that I’d always wanted to watch but never got around to watching it, so I settled in and watched it last night. It was already in progress, and I’m not sure how much I had missed of it, but I’m pretty sure that I didn’t miss too much. The point where I started watching it the two men were just meeting each other for the first time in the hospital.

I have to admit that the movies really was a great movie. And I have decided to make my very own bucket list. One of the things that I’d like to do is take roping lessons. Just for the heck of it! What kinds of things would you put on your bucket list?

Martha

I’ve always enjoyed watching shows that feature Martha Stewart. I don’t get the chance to watch her shows very often, so I enjoy watching clips from her shows on YouTube when I get the chance.

Here is a fun clip I found where she has Conan as a guest. The craft project that they are working on really is a cute idea! Enjoy!

That poor little doggie!

This has got to be one of the most creative and funniest videos I’ve ever seen where a pet dog was dubbed with a human voice! I’ve watched this at least ten times in the last three or four days and each time I laugh so hard that my stomach starts to hurt! Too funny!
