Hair sticks

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

I have long hair, and I really like it, but I don’t know a lot about how to fix it up in different styles.  I wish that there were some beauty salons that offered classes in how to style your own hair!  I’ve seen some really pretty hair sticks on the market, and I’ve even bought a few but I don’t have a really good “feel” for how to use them to take full advantage of them and make my hair look really pretty with them.  Sure, I’ve gone to you tube and seen a few instructional videos about how to use them, but I’ve always done better with a “real live” instructor doing “hands on” instruction.  I don’t have a lot of patience for practicing on my own hair because my arms get so tired of having them up for so long while I’m practicing!

Will it work?

My cousin’s girlfriend Bri has been raving about how much she loves her new magnetic bracelet.  She said that it has helped her arthritis tremendously!  So I started doing a little bit of research on magnetic therapy.  I couldn’t believe how many ailments magnets are supposed to help! From headaches, backaches, insomnia, stress, to diabetes!   Bri told me that she bought her bracelet at the billythetree.com website.  So I’ve gone online to check them out.

Their prices certainly seem reasonable enough, and they have a good shipping and satisfaction policy.  I think I’ll order one for myself and see if I notice any difference in how I feel!  Sometimes I wonder if these things “work” because of the placebo effect, so I’m always curious, yet cautious.  What is your experience?  Do you have any magnetic jewelry?  Has it improved your life?

Think

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I was looking for a video on you tube of Aretha Franklin singing “I’ve got the music in me” but couldn’t find one!  While looking, I found this version of her song “Think” that was adapted and changed to be a message about drinking and driving!  I’ve never heard this version, I thought it was great!  I hope you enjoy it too!  AND take the message seriously too!

What to do with all this fabric?

Monday, January 18th, 2010

My dear great-aunt decided it was time for me to be more creative and gave me a ton of fabric that she had collected over the years.  She said that it was time to pass the torch of fabric collecting on to a younger family member!  Some of this fabric is beautiful and I can see why she would be attracted to it.  Some of it though, is just plain ugly!  Naturally she didn’t put any labels on any of it telling me what the content is, or the yardage, so I guess the first thing to do is measure it all out and pin small notes on them telling me how much fabric there actually is!  Then I have to figure out what to actually DO with it!
