Blair – a value worth checking out

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

I don’t know why, but I’m always tempted to buy things from the Blair catalog company.  They frequently have one page ads in with the Sunday paper ads, showing some item of clothing or shoes that really appeal to me.  I’ve actually bought a few things from them to time to time.  At first I was afraid that the low price was an indication that the quality was low, but I was pleasantly surprised that the quality was better than I expected.

Lately I’ve been buying and wearing men pants instead of women’s pants.  I like them because they fit my body better, I can order them by waist and inseam, and they have deeper pockets than women’s pants.  The ability to load up my pockets with more items helps me to enjoy life a lot more because I often don’t have to carry a purse if my pockets are large enough.  I especially like buying men’s cargo pants – because they have even more pockets!  I was just looking through the Blair catalog to see if they had any good clothes on sale that I can use this summer.  I found a lot of nice short sleeve shirts that were reasonably priced, and several pairs of cargo pants too.  Unfortunately my favorite pair of cargo pants they don’t have in my inseam; they only had shorter sizes.

I’d really like to find some culottes to buy,  too.  I’m not supposed to wear shorts to work, but there are times that I find myself having to sit on the floor and I don’t want to have to do that in a skirt.  Wearing long pants to work gets too warm, so I think culottes would be the perfect answer.  At the moment I haven’t really started looking online for them, but that is on my wish list for purchasing in the next couple of months if I can find them.

Carrot cake roll

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

I saw that a local grocery store was selling carrot cake rolls at a special price.  Well, I like carrot cake quite a bit, so I decided to buy the cake roll.  I was thinking it would be similar to a carrot cake for sure, but somehow I expected it to be different, too.  Well, it essentially is a carrot cake, with the frosting rolled up in the middle.  Yes, it tastes just fine, but I think that the traditional carrot cake with the frosting on the top is more attractive.  Maybe if they had frosted the outside of the roll, too, so it looked like a log (or like a big carrot!) would have been better.
